Volunteering with YAHYA’s Hub is mutually beneficial for both yourself and the young asylum seekers we help. You’ll have many opportunities to develop, improve and evidence skills like communication, presentation, leadership, emotional intelligence, collaboration and team work.
Through our workshops and events, our support group and volunteers assist these young adults in combating isolation, poor mental health, cultural and language barriers and fear of the unknown.
Additionally, we help them regain their self-confidence, improve their English, develop interpersonal skills, and integrate into the community. This support provides a strong foundation for them to begin building their lives in the UK while they await changes to their asylum seeker status, in doing so preventing crime and suicide.
We respect our volunteers and appreciate the time they dedicate to helping us.
We offer many different roles to suit your busy schedule from general volunteering and fundraising to helping us out behind the scenes.
Read below to see roles available and register interest to begin your journey with us.
General volunteers socialise with our young asylum seekers, aged 16-26, in group settings.
We run many workshops and activities which you can get involved with from cooking and gardening to crafting and repairing or hiking and sports. You will be there to assist with activities and socialise with the young adults in a friendly, non-judgemental manner allowing them to practice their English and build confidence. Whilst improving their interpersonal and learning skills so they can do better in higher education and increase their employability in the future when they are granted UK residency

Volunteering for Fundraising is designed for those who appreciate the benefits of the work we do in the local community and want to give something back but cannot dedicate the level of commitment required to volunteer for our workshops or operations.
There are many ways in which you can get involved in the fundraising. no matter how little time you have. We are always looking for extra assistance or attendance at our fundraising events, participants for sponsored challenges, and looking for people keen to spread the word about our services and their own fundraising idea to turn their plans into reality.
