Our Offerings

We help young unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees become empowered and integrate with the community. Through learning from each other and local young adults in a fun and healthy way they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make right choices to build their life. This will have a positive social impact on community strength and unity.

Volunteers, teachers and creatives are integral to helping us deliver our programmes. For safeguarding workshop times and locations are unavailable publicly.

If you’d like to get involved, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you!

Happening Now

Peterhead Taster Activities

This workshop is packed with diverse activities designed to meet the needs of young people and explore their interests, helping shape future projects in the area. Each session is integrated with Go Deep Games to facilitate deep understanding and connection in an engaging and fun way. Working in collaboration with partners, creatives, and volunteers the programme will run until Christmas.

Week 1: Go Deep Games & Introductions

Week 2: Participatory photography and storytelling with PhotoStories by K

Week 3: RSPB Nature Reserve Visit and Photography

Week 4: Photography reflection

Week 5: Police Scotland meet and greet supported by mental health Scotland

Week 6: Music taster - YMI

While we’re currently focused on supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people in Aberdeenshire, we’re eager to collaborate with local youth groups and community partners.

Together, we hope to create more opportunities for connection, shared learning and meaningful integration, building stronger social links and a greater sense of belonging for everyone involved.

ESOL Classes

Social workers supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people came to us with a challenge. New arrivals were struggling to access ESOL courses at NESCOL due to limited spaces.

Just a few weeks later… with some of our founder, Shiva’s magic 🪄, the generosity of an ESOL teacher, Sahar [last name?] volunteering their time, a partnership with Aberdeens Multicultural centre and book donations from GREC (Grampian Regional Equality Council)

We now have introductory English classes running until the end of the year for up to 33 people. With a clear pathway forward, graduates of these classes are guaranteed a place in the next level at North East Scotland College who have also shared access to their learning materials.

When we see a gap we act quickly, working in collaboration with other to create solutions.

These classes are more than language lessons, they are a bridge to education, confidence and belonging.

Coming into the new year we hope to continue running these classes, for young people in need.

Participatory Photography

Eyes of the Earth, is a youth-led participatory photography project where young people from YAHYAS Hub explore identity, community, and climate justice through the lens of a camera.

Facilitated by Karina from Photostories by K, young people are invited to see themselves not just as participants, but as story tellers. With each photo representing a story of who they are and what they care for.

Through gentle steps, the groups will discover how our hands, minds and souls can work together to create. Working towards gathering everyone's contributions, photographs, writing and reflections to share their art with their permissions.

To facilitate this, we are looking for DSLR camera donations, as we are hoping to allow more time for each young person to explore and experiment with photography.

If you have a camera you’d like to donate, please get in touch.
